INDOTEL President calls for stronger cybersecurity in Dominican Republic
Guido Gómez Mazara, president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), has called for the strengthening of cybersecurity within both the public and private sectors. Speaking at the Cybersecurity & Artificial Intelligence Summit 2026, Mazara noted that the Dominican Republic experienced 535.5 million attempted cyberattacks last year.
To address these threats, a bill has been submitted to the Dominican Congress to establish a legal framework for telecommunications and cybersecurity. Mazara emphasized the need for increased public awareness to ensure a secure environment for economic growth and to improve the quality of jobs in the labor market.
