Indra to supply long-range radar to Thailand for air surveillance
Indra will strengthen Thailand’s air surveillance and control capabilities through the deployment of a new long-range Lanza 3D radar at Phuket Air Base. This marks the third long-range Lanza 3D radar contracted by the Royal Thai Air Force from the Spanish company.
The Phuket Air Base is situated near a critical maritime route connecting the Indian Ocean to the Strait of Malacca, providing significant strategic value for regional security. The Lanza 3D LRR radar is designed to detect a wide range of threats, including small drones, stealth aircraft, projectiles, and various missiles.
Operating in the L band, the system is engineered to function in high-humidity and adverse atmospheric conditions. The contract also includes command and control capabilities based on Indra’s AirDef system, allowing for integrated information processing. The agreement was finalized at Indra’s headquarters in Madrid following a visit by Thai authorities.
