Indrakeeladri shrine receives Rs 52-crore facility upgrade

The Andhra Pradesh government is introducing enhanced facilities at the Indrakeeladri shrine in Vijayawada ahead of the Dasara festivities. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy inaugurated the newly constructed Sri Kanakadurga Annaprasada Sadanam and Sri Durga Bhavani Mahaprasada Bhavanam, which were built at a combined cost of approximately Rs 52.50 crore.

The new facilities include a dining hall capable of accommodating 800 devotees at once and mechanized kitchens equipped with modern technology to ensure faster, hygienic food preparation. The project aims to manage the increasing number of pilgrims visiting the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam.

To address traffic congestion, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to study the construction of a second ghat road. A feasibility study is currently underway for a 700-metre road from Kummaripalem. Additionally, the government plans to utilize three acres of land at Kummaripalem to build a seven-storey structure featuring multi-level parking and rooms for approximately 15,000 devotees.
