Indraprastha Gas Limited hikes CNG prices in Delhi-NCR

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices by ₹3.89 per kg across the Delhi-NCR region, effective from 6:00 AM on August 29, 2026. In Delhi, the price has risen from ₹83.09 to ₹86.98 per kg. Other regional rates include ₹95.59 in Noida and Ghaziabad, ₹95.47 in Meerut, and ₹92.01 in Gurugram.

The price hike is attributed to the sharp rise in international Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) costs. IGL noted that geopolitical tensions in West Asia have disrupted cargo movements through the Strait of Hormuz, causing global LNG prices to nearly double. Additionally, rising demand in Europe ahead of the winter season has further pressured the global market.

This marks the fifth price increase for CNG this year. The hike is expected to impact high-mileage drivers, including taxi, auto-rickshaw, and commercial vehicle operators, potentially leading to higher transportation and freight costs. Meanwhile, the government stated that recent price adjustments for Compressed Biogas (CBG) should not significantly burden consumers.
