The ride-hailing platform inDrive has confirmed that a recent robbery and assault involving one of its drivers took place in the Chiriquí province of Panama. The incident occurred on August 14 when five individuals, including a teenager, requested a trip from David to Bugaba.
Upon reaching the Querévalos sector in Alanje, the suspects allegedly assaulted the driver, threatened him with a firearm, and stole his vehicle. Following the incident, the suspects were apprehended by National Police 'Linces' agents near the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí, and the stolen vehicle was recovered.
inDrive stated it has permanently blocked the account associated with the trip and is cooperating with authorities. The company condemned the violence and emphasized its commitment to safety protocols and legal cooperation.
