Induction cooktops identified as major household energy consumers

Research from the Swedish Energy Agency has identified induction cooktops as a major consumer of electricity in households, often surpassing appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, or tumble dryers.

Due to their high power output, which typically ranges between 1,000 and 3,000 watts, induction cooktops can consume up to three times more electricity annually than other major appliances. The study indicates that using an induction cooktop for approximately one hour per day can result in an annual consumption of about 1,200 kWh.

To mitigate rising electricity costs and reduce environmental impact, the Swedish Energy Agency recommends rational usage of cooking appliances and the selection of more energy-efficient solutions where possible.
