Indus Towers and Cygni Energy partner for 1.5 GWh battery storage
Indus Towers Ltd and Cygni Energy Pvt Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the development of energy storage solutions for telecom infrastructure in India. The collaboration aims to establish Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing capacity of up to 1.5 GWh.
The partnership intends to address the evolving energy needs of India's telecom sector by evaluating advanced battery technologies to improve reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Cygni Energy plans to develop capacity that can scale from current 100Ah solutions to higher-capacity 314Ah systems.
This initiative aligns with Cygni Energy’s broader goals to expand its manufacturing footprint, including a planned 4.8 GWh facility for electric vehicles and stationary storage. The collaboration is expected to support indigenous innovation and strengthen supply-chain resilience as India integrates its digital and energy infrastructures.
