Industrial and mining sectors report strong growth in Latin America

Grupo UNACEM reported positive performance for the second quarter of 2026, with consolidated revenues reaching approximately USD 573.5 million, a 10.6% increase compared to the previous year. Net profit reached approximately USD 52.1 million, driven by higher sales volumes, improved capacity utilization, and operational efficiency across its operations in Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and the United States.

The group invested approximately USD 105 million (CAPEX) during the period, primarily focusing on projects in Peru, including a new lime plant (CALCEM) and modifications to the Atocongo plant. CEO Pedro Lerner noted that the company is transitioning from its initial strategic plan to a new stage aimed at maximizing value and standardizing operations.

In Chile, the mining company Collahuasi reported a significant increase in net profits for the first half of 2026, totaling US$ 673 million, more than double the US$ 323 million recorded during the same period in 2025. Despite a 2.4% drop in fine copper production, high copper prices and strict operational cost adjustments boosted revenues to US$ 2.377 billion.

Collahuasi, controlled by Anglo American and Glencore, contributed US$ 430 million in total taxes during the semester, including US$ 159.4 million in mining royalties. The company also underwent leadership changes, with Patricio Hidalgo assuming the role of CEO on July 1.
