Industrial companies expand healthcare services in Ghana and India

Industrial companies in Ghana and India are expanding healthcare initiatives for employees and local communities.

In Ghana, Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) has reopened its clinic in Tema Community 4 after 15 years of inactivity. The company is currently considering proposals to transform the facility into a 110-bed specialist hospital. Board Chairman Ambassador Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah stated the goal is to create a first-class healthcare center providing comprehensive medical services to workers, their families, and the general public. The medical team is also prioritizing occupational health to mitigate risks associated with aluminium smelting.

In India, Vedanta Aluminium is expanding its healthcare outreach across the Sijimali and Kodigamali Bauxite Mines in the Rayagada and Kalahandi regions. Between April and July 2026, the company’s Mobile Health Units conducted 225 health camps, providing medical consultations, diagnostics, and essential medicines to 5,494 patients in remote villages. These efforts are complemented by Vedanta-supported Primary Health Centres that offer round-the-clock care to underserved populations.
