Industrial development expands in Bariloche and Chubut

Industrial development is accelerating in the Argentine provinces of Río Negro and Chubut as regional governments invest in infrastructure to diversify local economies beyond tourism and fishing.

In Bariloche, the Productive Technological Industrial Park (PITBA) has grown to include more than 110 companies. Currently, 13 businesses are operational, with 22 construction projects underway and 20 others approved. The park hosts a mix of large chocolate factories, logistics warehouses, and small service-based SMEs, attracting approximately 400 people to the site daily.

In Chubut, the provincial government is implementing investment plans for industrial parks, with a specific focus on the Trelew Free Zone. This initiative includes tax exemptions on exports, imports, and municipal rates to stimulate growth. The Trelew industrial park is currently undergoing reconversion to support the fishing sector, with expectations to create 1,000 new jobs focused on hake, shrimp, and squid. Additionally, officials noted the potential for a $3.5 billion data center project, though they emphasized that such large-scale investments depend on national macroeconomic stability.
