Hexagon Robotics and Schaeffler begin training AEON humanoid robots
Hexagon Robotics and Schaeffler have reached a new milestone in their partnership as AEON humanoid robots begin training at Schaeffler’s Humanoid Gym in Germany. The facility utilizes a ‘Train–Validate–Deploy’ model, allowing the robots to learn industrial tasks through imitation learning and repeated execution in a controlled environment. This process aims to ensure the robots can perform reliably in real manufacturing settings before full deployment. Schaeffler plans to deploy at least 1,000 AEON units in its global operations in the coming years and will also supply advanced actuator technology to the robots.
In a related development in the humanoid robotics sector, Bosch has partnered with the London-based startup Humanoid to begin mass production of humanoid robots. Scheduled to start in August 2027 at the Bosch plant in Bühl, Germany, the project aims to produce several hundred units initially. Bosch will act as a contract manufacturer and may also supply components such as motors and sensors. Schaeffler has been identified as one of the early customers for these robots, intending to integrate them into its own production lines.
