Industrial incidents reported in Venezuela and Mexico

Residents of the La Cantera de Canchunchú sector in Bermúdez, Sucre state, have reported environmental pollution caused by a recently opened asphalt plant. Neighbors claim that smoke and dust emissions, often occurring in the early morning hours, are causing respiratory issues, particularly for those with asthma. Local residents and environmentalists have noted a lack of official communication from the responsible construction company and have called for authorities to enforce environmental regulations.

In Mexico, an explosion and fire occurred at the Olmeca Refinery in Dos Bocas, Tabasco. The incident reportedly began around 6:30 AM in the compressor area, involving a burner that ignited nearby vegetation. Emergency services were mobilized to control the flames, which produced a visible column of smoke. While two people have been reported affected, the exact nature of their injuries—whether burns or intoxication—remains unclear. Pemex has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause or extent of the damage.
