Industrial software firms deploy agentic AI for manufacturing automation

Industrial software providers are advancing the integration of agentic AI into manufacturing and product lifecycle management (PLM) to automate complex workflows.

Siemens Digital Industries Software is incorporating AI-native functions into its Xcelerator platform. The strategy focuses on three pillars: faster engines for rapid design evaluation, smarter execution to automate routine tasks, and trusted outcomes through secure, traceable data. By connecting PLM, ERP, and CRM data, the company aims to provide engineers with actionable insights while maintaining governance.

In Japan, Data Design has launched research and development for AI agents specifically designed for manufacturing sites. The initiative seeks to link digital tools such as CAD, CAM, and CAE to automate processes from design to quality control. The goal is to integrate these agents with existing systems like PLM and ERP to capture the expertise of skilled technicians and create a digital thread across the entire production lifecycle without requiring massive system overhauls.
