Industrial technical rescue training becomes priority in Brazil

Industrial technical rescue involves specialized techniques to safely retrieve workers injured or trapped at heights or in confined spaces. According to Brazilian regulations such as NR-35, NR-33, and NR-1, rescue operations must be pre-planned with sized teams, estimated response times, and specific equipment rather than being improvised.

Training for these teams is guided by the ABNT NBR 16710 technical standard, which organizes competence levels. Initial operational training typically requires 24 hours of practical focus, and certificates are valid for two years.

Prioritizing these skills is critical in Brazil, where falls remain a leading cause of serious and fatal workplace accidents. Data from the Ministry of Labour indicates that falls account for 28% of serious and fatal accidents in the construction sector, while other data suggests falls represent approximately 40% of all recorded workplace accidents annually in the country.
