Industrial Transition Accelerator backs 11 Indian projects with $18B investment potential
The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) has selected 11 Indian projects for support through its India Project Support Programme. These projects represent over $18 billion in potential investment and are estimated to deliver 7.8 million tonnes of annual carbon abatement.
The selected initiatives are led by companies including Jindal Steel, JSW Steel, ACME Group, Yamna, Circular Urban Energy (CUE), and ReNew. The portfolio spans sectors such as chemicals, steel, aviation, and shipping, with more than 70% of the pipeline focused on green ammonia and green methanol.
Specific project highlights include: • Jindal Steel: A carbon capture, utilization, and storage project in Angul, Odisha, aiming to capture 1.0–1.2 million tonnes of CO2 annually. • JSW Steel: Evaluating modular carbon capture technology at its Vijayanagar facility. • ACME Group: Developing green ammonia facilities in Gopalpur and Paradip, and a green methanol plant in Paradip. • ReNew: Advancing a green ammonia project in Paradip targeted for 2029. • Yamna: Developing a green ammonia project near Krishnapatnam Port. • Circular Urban Energy: Building a waste-to-sustainable aviation fuel project near Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.
ITA’s support will provide financial de-risking, clean demand creation, and project-readiness assistance to help developers reach final investment decisions. India currently has over 65 commercial-scale clean industrial projects in its pipeline.
