Industrial wastewater and fuel subsidy issues reported in San Luis Potosí and Potosí
In San Luis Potosí, Mexico, recent economic census data from INEGI reveals that 92 percent of companies do not treat the wastewater generated by their industrial or productive activities. Out of 6,132 economic units surveyed, 5,675 reported no treatment processes for their wastewater, while only 457 companies utilize sanitation procedures.
In Potosí, Bolivia, entrepreneur Primo Rodríguez Villca is developing a modern fuel service complex in Samasa Baja. Rodríguez criticized the current fuel subsidy system, stating, “The subsidy has caused corruption, it has spoiled us,” referring to the long queues for fuel in the country. To ensure supply, he has contacted hydrocarbon entrepreneurs to import diesel and gasoline directly for his facility, which will feature advanced computer systems for storage and purchase management.
