Industrias Peñoles expands community programs and renewable energy use

Industrias Peñoles is advancing its corporate strategy through community development initiatives and a transition toward renewable energy in its Mexican operations.

On the social front, the company is investing in STEM education, robotics, and technical training for youth in mining communities. Through the Centro de Estudios Técnicos Laguna del Rey (CETLAR), Peñoles has trained over 1,100 young people across 30 generations. Additionally, the company supports youth through sports, managing 11 soccer academies that serve more than 1,200 children.

Regarding energy, Peñoles is increasing its reliance on renewable sources to ensure operational continuity and reduce fossil fuel use. In 2025, renewable energy accounted for 49.9% of the company’s total electricity consumption, up from 47.5% the previous year. The company utilizes a mix of the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM), self-supply, and CFE Suministro Básico to manage its 1,603.4 GWh of renewable energy. Peñoles is also working to reduce diesel and liquefied natural gas consumption, exploring the future electrification of its mining equipment.
