Industriemuseum Schweinfurt hosts industrial history tours

The Industriemuseum Schweinfurt has hosted several group visits focused on the history of the rolling bearing industry. A delegation of ten works council representatives from SKF, traveling from Göteborg, participated in an English-language tour. The group examined the evolution of local companies into international corporations, changes in ownership since the late 19th century, and the historical development of working conditions.

Visitors showed particular interest in the bearing room and the rotating exhibition titled ‘Windkraft – Power aus der Natur mit Technik aus Schweinfurt’ (Wind Power – Power from Nature with Technology from Schweinfurt). This exhibition highlights the critical role of large-scale bearings in wind energy technology, featuring components from SKF and Schaeffler.

Additionally, the museum's support association for the adult education center (Volkshochschule) conducted a visit to explore the industrial heritage of the region. The museum, operated by the AKI Förderkreis Industrie-, Handwerks- und Gewerbekultur Schweinfurt e. V., continues to showcase the significance of Schweinfurt's industrial history through specialized tours and exhibitions.
