IndyCar imposes six‑place grid penalties on Ferrucci and Rossi at Road America

IndyCar officials penalised AJ Foyt Racing driver Santino Ferrucci and Ed Carpenter Racing driver Alexander Rossi with six‑place grid drops for the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America. Both entries were judged to have exceeded the allowed number of engines after making unapproved changes; each used a fifth engine this season, one more than the rules permit. The penalties follow a supplier‑related valve‑coating issue discovered in Chevrolet‑powered engines, prompting pre‑emptive swaps for several drivers. Ferrucci, who had qualified seventh, will start 13th, while Rossi, already at the back of qualifying, will be moved to the 25th and final grid spot. Officials warned that additional Chevrolet‑powered cars could face similar penalties before the season ends.
