INE and Veracruz Electoral Authority Sign Pact to Launch 2026 Public Service Contest
On 18 July 2026, Mexico’s National Electoral Institute (INE) and the State Electoral Institute of Veracruz (OPLE) signed a general coordination agreement aimed at strengthening the National Professional Electoral Service. The pact outlines procedures to ensure the 2026 public recruitment contest is conducted on merit, transparency, equal opportunity and gender parity, and includes mechanisms for technical assistance, supervision and advisory support.
The ceremony was attended by OPLE Veracruz council president Marisol Alicia Delgadillo Morales, council members Cathia Elizabeth Castillo Solís and Maty Lezama Martínez, and INE executive Sergio Vera Olvera. The agreement seeks to professionalise electoral functions and enhance institutional capacities in Veracruz.
