INE announces home voting options for 2027 elections
The National Electoral Institute (INE) has announced that individuals with disabilities or health conditions preventing them from traveling to polling stations, as well as their primary caregivers, will be able to vote from home during the 2027 elections.
Rogelio Maciel, a vocal for the Federal Register of Voters in Veracruz's District 12, explained that this mechanism aims to guarantee voting rights through a process that ensures security, certainty, and secrecy. To qualify, individuals must have completed the process to obtain or update their voter ID via home service, in accordance with the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures.
In Veracruz's District 12, 65 individuals have already been identified as having completed home-based registration. Voters must be able to express their will, which can be done through head movements, sounds, touch, or other forms of communication.
