INE begins preparations for Mexico's 2027 electoral process
The National Electoral Institute (INE) is initiating preparations for the 2027 electoral process in Mexico. In the Altiplano region, the District 01 board will begin its electoral year on September 10, 2026, with the installation of the electoral council. This step includes issuing calls for election observation and formalizing federal and local processes.
To prepare for the election scheduled for June 6, 2027, the INE will launch an intensive annual campaign starting September 1, 2026, to update the electoral roll. Officials have set a critical deadline of January 25, 2027, for most voter services. After this date, modules will no longer process new registrations, address changes, or data corrections until after the election day. Only replacements for lost or damaged valid credentials will be permitted after the deadline.
Young citizens approaching the age of 18 are encouraged to complete their registration early. Required documentation for first-time registration includes an original birth certificate, proof of residence no older than three months, and a photo ID.
