INE headquarters evacuated in Mexico City due to fuel leak
The central headquarters of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in Mexico City was evacuated on Tuesday, October 13, following a fuel leak at a nearby gas station. Approximately 866 employees were moved from the complex as a precautionary measure after a leak was detected in diesel storage tanks at an adjacent fuel station, which also affected a neighboring health institution's parking lot.
No injuries or injuries were reported during the evacuation, which was carried out in an orderly manner following established contingency protocols. The Mexico City Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection is managing the incident. While the leak persists, INE activities will continue via remote work (home office) until the situation is resolved.
