INEC extends candidate submission deadline and suspends Osun PVC collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to upload candidate lists for the 2027 governorship and state House of Assembly elections. Originally set for August 8, the new deadline is Tuesday, August 11, following appeals from various political parties for more time.

In Osun State, INEC has suspended the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election to facilitate the compilation of final collection statistics. Voters who applied for replacement cards due to loss, damage, or defacement have until midnight on August 9 to print downloadable copies.

Additionally, INEC has provided downloadable replacement PVCs for voters in the Odo-Otin and Ife Central local government areas after hoodlums reportedly stole cards from collection centres. The commission emphasized that the stolen cards cannot be used for voting.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that it successfully completed the upload of its candidates for all elective positions within the original timeframe, ahead of the extended deadline.
