INEFI honors 23 physical education teachers in Dominican Republic

The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), supported by the Ministry of Education (MINERD), held its twelfth annual gala to present the “Medalla al Mérito Magisterial en Educación Física 2025-2026” award. The ceremony, held at the Barceló Hotel in Santo Domingo, recognized 23 teachers for their professional excellence.

During the event, INEFI Executive Director Alberto Rodríguez Mella emphasized the strategic importance of integrating physical education into the “Tanda Extendida” (Extended School Day) program across the country. He stated that a comprehensive education must provide children and adolescents with opportunities for physical, sporting, and recreational activities to support their physical, emotional, and social growth.

Rodríguez Mella also highlighted the success of the “Aulas de Motricidad” (Motricity Classrooms) project. This initiative, based on neuroscience, has been implemented for two years in various educational centers to support integral development during early childhood.
