Inefi inaugurates 14th psychomotricity classroom in Barahona
The National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi) has inaugurated its 14th psychomotricity classroom at the Escuela Parroquial Salesiana Cristo Rey in Barahona. The initiative aims to stimulate the physical, cognitive, and motor development of children in the early childhood education level of the public school system.
Designed for children aged 3 to 6, these specialized classrooms are equipped with resources to improve mobility, balance, coordination, and body perception. Jacobo Moquete Guzmán, Inefi's head of Early Level Pedagogical Projects, stated that these environments allow children to build essential skills for integral growth through physical and pedagogical activities.
The project, which has been in development since 2024, seeks to ensure that new early childhood education centers built by the Ministry of Education's School Infrastructure Directorate include these specialized spaces. Inefi reports that a 15th classroom is already equipped, with plans to establish between 20 and 22 such spaces by the end of 2026.
