INEFI resumes national tour to renovate sports courts and deliver equipment

The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) has resumed its national tour to deliver sports equipment and renovated courts, starting in Hato Mayor. Executive Director Alberto Rodríguez Mella oversaw the delivery of seven renovated courts across several educational centers, including Liceo Rosa Duarte, Escuela Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, and Liceo Bernardo Pichardo.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, INEFI technicians conducted training sessions for physical education teachers and hosted a summer camp at the Juan Bosch School. The initiative aims to advance school sports and physical education throughout the country.

These developmental efforts are yielding results at the international level. Athletes trained through INEFI-organized school games have secured multiple medals at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026. Notable achievements include Patricia Siné winning gold and setting a new games record in the women’s 4x100m relay with a time of 43.00 seconds. Other medalists include Nayelis Guzmán, who earned silver in karate, and Diego José García and Samantha Josefa, who secured bronze medals in judo.
