İnegöl Animal Market Reopens After Sheep Pox Closure

The İnegöl Animal Market, a key livestock trading hub in Turkey's Bursa province, was temporarily closed in early June after a case of sheep pox (şap) was detected in a neighborhood following the Eid al‑Adha festivities. The closure, ordered by the District Agriculture and Forest Directorate and carried out by the İnegöl Municipality, aimed to prevent the disease from spreading among animals.

After approximately two months of health monitoring and preventive measures, authorities announced that the market will resume operations on 30 July. Officials stressed that continued animal health checks and hygiene rules will remain in force, and they urged producers and buyers to comply with the guidelines.

The reopening is expected to restore normal trading activity for local breeders and livestock dealers, relieving the economic slowdown caused by the shutdown.
