Turkey’s Gaziantep drug crackdown detains 382 suspects

The Justice Ministry’s "Narko Kapan Gaziantep" operation was carried out simultaneously in Gaziantep and 13 other provinces. After a six‑month technical and physical investigation, authorities identified 548 individuals suspected of drug trafficking. Of those, 382 have been taken into custody, including 75 who were already serving sentences. Four suspects fled abroad and remain at large, while searches for another 91 suspects continue. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the results, noting the coordination of the Gaziantep Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Gaziantep Police Directorate and the National Police’s Narcotics Division.

The operation underscores the Turkish government's intensified efforts against illegal drug trade and related organized crime.
