INEOS Grenadiers omit Carlos Rodríguez from Tour de France lineup

The British‑based INEOS Grenadiers (Netcompany‑Ineos) announced its eight‑rider squad for the upcoming Tour de France. The team will be led in the mountains by Kevin Vauquelin, Thymen Arensman and 2019 winner Egan Bernal, while strong time‑trialists such as Filippo Ganna, Josh Tarling and Tobias Foss are expected to target the early team time trial stage.

Spanish rider Carlos Rodríguez, who finished fifth in the 2023 Tour and seventh in 2024, was not selected. The omission sparked debate, with analysts citing his recent dip in form, the arrival of new signings like Vauquelin and Oscar Onley’s recent shoulder injury, and the team’s emphasis on a powerful collective effort in the opening team time trial. The decision leaves speculation about Rodríguez’s role in the upcoming Vuelta a España, where he may receive a leadership opportunity.

The roster also excludes British rider Oscar Onley, who withdrew after a shoulder injury in June. INEOS Grenadiers framed the selection as a move toward an aggressive, attacking racing style throughout the three‑week Grand Tour.
