Inep releases Enem 2026 essay guidelines and rules

Inep has released the official guide for the Enem 2026 essay exam, providing detailed instructions for candidates. The document outlines the requirements for the argumentative-dissertative text, which must be written in formal Portuguese and can earn up to 1,000 points based on five specific competencies.

Key guidance includes the necessity of a clear thesis, coherent argumentation, and a social intervention proposal that respects human rights. The guide warns against common errors that can lead to a score of zero, such as fleeing the topic, writing fewer than seven lines, or using disconnected segments.

Furthermore, the material emphasizes the importance of a well-contextualized sociocultural repertoire. Experts and the guide itself caution against using “pocket repertoires”—generic, memorized citations that lack direct connection to the theme. To assist students, literature and film are suggested as strategic tools to build deeper argumentative capacity.
