Inep opens 2026 School Census data review for Brazilian schools

Schools in municipal, state, and Federal District networks have until September 11 to review data from the first stage of the 2026 Basic Education School Census (Initial Enrollment). For the first time, the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) has made declared reports available for consultation via the EducaCenso system.

This review period allows school managers to identify inconsistencies before the official rectification period begins. Currently, the system is in read-only mode, preventing any immediate edits. Rectification functionality will open in the second half of September following the publication of preliminary data in the Official Gazette of the Union.

Once the rectification period opens, institutions will have 30 days to correct errors. The accuracy of this census is critical, as the data is used to calculate distribution coefficients for the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb). Final homologated data is scheduled to be sent to the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE) by December 11.
