Infant abandoned in Soko-Hangoumé brush near Vogan

A one-month-old infant was discovered abandoned in the brush near the village of Soko-Hangoumé in the Vo 1 commune during the early hours of Sunday, September 20, 2026. Local herders reported hearing cries around 3:00 a.m., leading to the discovery of the newborn left alone in the vegetation.

The Vogan gendarmerie brigade responded to the scene and transported the infant to the Vo District Hospital. The child is currently under medical surveillance and receiving emergency care. While medical staff remain cautiously optimistic, the infant's condition is being closely monitored.
