Infant found abandoned in Sierra de Santiago cabin

A one-year-old baby was found abandoned alone in a cabin in the Sierra de Santiago area of Nuevo León. Municipal police responded to reports of the child at a property near the Cola de Caballo highway in the La Cieneguilla zone.

Local residents reported that the infant had been left alone for several hours. Civil Protection personnel examined the child and transported them to the Santiago Unit of Medical Specialties (UNEME). While the child had superficial abrasions on an arm, medical professionals determined the injuries did not pose a risk to their health.

Authorities have notified the Municipal DIF, and the State Investigation Agency (AEI) has launched an inquiry to determine responsibility for the abandonment. Neighbors suggested potential issues regarding substance use by the mother, though officials have not confirmed this version of events.
