Fatal and non-fatal road accidents across Brazil in late June
A series of traffic accidents were reported in Brazil over the last two days. In Pato Branco, Paraná, a 69‑year‑old motorcyclist died after colliding with a Fiat Toro pickup on a preferential lane. Emergency services pronounced the rider dead at the scene while the truck driver was unharmed.
On the Presidente Dutra highway (BR‑116) near Pindamonhangaba, a mother and her 1‑year‑old baby left the scene uninjured after their car left the road and stopped in vegetation. Police said the child’s safety‑seat prevented injuries.
In Apucarana, Paraná, a 50‑year‑old motorcyclist lost consciousness after striking the rear of a truck. He was treated at a local emergency unit and survived.
A separate fatal crash occurred on BR‑376 in Mandaguaçu, Paraná, where 69‑year‑old Ivo Alves Leite was struck by a truck while attempting to cross the highway. He died at the scene; the driver tested negative for alcohol. Reporter Eduardo Leandro, who was covering the incident, later discovered the victim was his own uncle.
In Salinas, Minas Gerais, a driver died when his loaded truck fell about six metres into a ravine on BR‑251. The cabin was destroyed and the victim was trapped in the wreckage.
These incidents highlight ongoing road safety concerns, including helmet use, child‑seat compliance and vehicle control on Brazilian highways.
