INFANT project uses AI to improve pediatric oncology care in Italy
The INFANT project, led by Professor Aniello Murano at the Federico II University of Naples, is utilizing artificial intelligence to transform pediatric oncology care in Italy. The initiative aims to create a national platform that streamlines the diagnostic and therapeutic process for children and adolescents aged 0 to 17.
By focusing on data mobility rather than patient transport, the project seeks to reduce the need for families to travel to centralized hospitals. This approach aims to minimize the physical and emotional stress on young patients, reduce waiting lists, and allow children to receive care in hospitals closer to their homes. The platform is designed to optimize hospital resources, reduce environmental impact by limiting travel, and ensure the security of sensitive medical data.
