Infant survives acute heart failure after emergency transfer

A six-month-old infant, Rozárka, underwent a life-threatening medical crisis after her parents initially mistook her symptoms for teething issues. In September 2025, the child's condition deteriorated, leading to a diagnosis of acute heart failure at the Olomouc University Hospital.

Due to the severity of the condition and the potential need for advanced life support such as ECMO, specialists coordinated a rapid transfer to the Children's Cardiac Center in Motol, Prague. The infant required intensive treatment and mechanical ventilation during several months of hospitalization.

The family received support from the Ronald McDonald House at the Motol hospital, which provided free accommodation. Following extensive treatment, the child's cardiac function and overall development have shown signs of gradual improvement.
