Infant with congenital heart disease air‑lifted from Divinópolis to Uberlândia
On 31 July, a newborn diagnosed with a congenital heart defect was transferred by air ambulance from the Complexo de Saúde São João de Deus in Divinópolis to the Hospital de Clínicas de Uberlândia. The flight was coordinated by the Minas Gerais State Health Secretariat’s air‑health service, with medical teams from SAMU and pilots and crew from the Corpo de Bombeiros Militar’s air operations battalion. The operation reduced travel time, allowed continuous medical monitoring, and ensured the infant reached a high‑complexity care unit for specialized treatment.
The coordination involved the Central Operations for State Health Regulation, which allocated a bed at the receiving hospital. All participants followed established aeromedical protocols to maintain the baby’s stability throughout the journey.
