Infarmed warns against infant sunscreens withdrawn in Austria
Portugal's medicines regulator Infarmed issued an alert on 19 May 2026 about two infant sunscreen products that have been removed from the Austrian market. The products are Ringana Fresh Baby Sunscreen High SPF 50 (batch 103362506241) and Alma Organic Babycare Baby & Kids Suncream 50 (batch L9998). They were withdrawn after laboratory tests showed discrepancies between the measured sun protection factor and the level stated on the label, making them non‑compliant with EU cosmetic legislation.
Infarmed has found no evidence that the batches were sold in Portugal, but because of the risk to children it advises consumers not to purchase or use the products. Any occurrence of the sunscreens in Portugal should be reported to the agency via email. The alert follows earlier Safety Gate notifications (SR/007Safe26/26 and SR/00832/26).
