Infineon expands semiconductor footprint through acquisition and new Thailand plant
Infineon Technologies AG has completed its acquisition of Bengaluru-based C2i Semiconductors to strengthen its position in power solutions for AI data centers. C2i specializes in software-defined multi-phase drivers and intelligent power stages for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI server architectures. The acquisition integrates C2i’s team into Infineon’s Power Systems division and expands the company’s research and development capabilities in India.
Simultaneously, Infineon has opened a new backend manufacturing facility in Samut Prakan, near Bangkok, Thailand. Designed for future expansion into up to five modules, the site aims to become one of the company’s largest backend facilities globally. The investment is expected to create approximately 1,000 high-skilled jobs and serves to diversify Infineon’s global production network by leveraging Southeast Asia’s technological ecosystem and logistics.
