Infineon opens new semiconductor manufacturing facility in Thailand

Infineon Technologies has commenced operations at a new backend manufacturing and wafer testing facility in Samut Prakan, located south of Bangkok, Thailand. The new site is designed to complement the company’s existing Asian production lines, specifically serving as a strategic second pillar alongside its facilities in Malaysia.

The facility currently features a 30,000-square-meter cleanroom area and employs approximately 350 people, with plans to expand the workforce to 1,000 as production scales. The plant is built on a modular design, allowing for future expansion of up to five modules to accommodate growing demand.

Focusing on the assembly and final testing of power semiconductors, the site will support sectors including the automotive industry, industrial applications, and energy infrastructure. Alexander Gorski, Chief Operating Officer of Infineon, noted that the location provides a strategic hub in Southeast Asia with excellent access to global logistics, helping to diversify the company’s production network and ensure a resilient supply chain.
