Infineon opens world’s largest power‑semiconductor fab in Dresden, Germany

Infineon Technologies inaugurated its Smart Power Fab in Dresden, a €5 billion investment that creates roughly 1,000 direct jobs and doubles the company's production capacity at the site. The plant is the world’s largest facility for intelligent power semiconductors and analog/mixed‑signal technologies, targeting applications such as AI‑driven data‑centers, renewable‑energy infrastructure, industrial automation and software‑defined electric vehicles.

The factory employs a highly digitalised production line, using a digital twin and AI algorithms to accelerate ramp‑up and achieve a capacity increase at twice the speed of previous fabs. German officials highlighted the project’s role in strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty, energy transition, and supply‑chain resilience.
