Inflatable Trump-Putin Kiss Highlights Amsterdam WorldPride 2026 Parade

A giant inflatable sculpture titled “The Kissing Couple” depicting U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Delft‑style blue‑and‑white outfits holding tulips floated through Amsterdam’s canals on 1 August during the WorldPride 2026 Canal Parade. The artwork, part of a display of about 80 decorated boats, attracted hundreds of thousands of spectators and quickly went viral.

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, the first sitting Dutch premier to join the parade, posted on X that the celebration held “greater significance than ever” amid rising pressure on LGBTQ+ rights across Europe. Police maintained a heightened security presence following a deadly attack on a Pride event in Berlin earlier in July, but the Amsterdam parade proceeded without incident, showcasing a colorful mix of music, resistance and queer visibility.
