Inflation and rising utility costs impact Arizona residents

Rising inflation and increased utility costs are impacting residents in Bullhead City, Arizona, including long-time supporters of President Donald Trump. Louis Oliverio, a 72-year-old three-time Trump voter, noted that the rising cost of food has made simple pleasures, such as purchasing steak fillets, unaffordable.

Federal data indicates that annual inflation reached 3.7 percent in September, an increase from 3.4 percent in August. Economists have pointed to tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, as well as ongoing foreign conflicts, as contributing factors to these price increases.

In addition to food costs, Bullhead City has implemented increases to water and sewer base rates. For residential customers on the Mohave system, the monthly base charge is set to rise from $14.61 in 2025 to $17.39 in 2026. Local officials noted that tariffs have contributed to higher infrastructure costs.
