Oman and Jordan report rising inflation rates for August 2026
Inflation in Oman reached 3.4% in August 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information. The average inflation rate from January to August 2026 stood at 2.9%.
The highest price increases in Oman were observed in the transportation sector, which rose by 8.5%, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages at 7%. Other notable increases included personal goods and services at 6.1% and restaurants and hotels at 3.6%. Conversely, housing, water, electricity, and gas prices saw a decrease of 0.6%.
In Jordan, the inflation index rose by 2.66% in August 2026 compared to the previous year. This increase was driven primarily by significant rises in the prices of oils and fats (17.26%), personal effects (16.53%), and transportation (15.98%). While most categories saw increases, prices for fruits, nuts, vegetables, and meat and poultry experienced declines.
