Inflationary pressures rise in Argentina and Guatemala

In Argentina, freight transportation costs rose by 2.55% in September, bringing the cumulative increase for the first nine months of 2026 to 30.3%. According to the Transport Cost Index (ICT) from FADEEAC, this represents an acceleration compared to previous months. Diesel fuel has seen a 38% increase so far this year. Key drivers for the September rise included general expenses, tolls, and tires.

In Guatemala, September saw the highest monthly inflation for that month since 2012. The Consumer Price Index (IPC) rose by 1.18% compared to August. This increase was primarily driven by food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and gasoline. Specific food items such as tortillas, tomatoes, corn, and onions also contributed significantly to the price surge.
