Inflationary pressures rise in Croatia and the United States

Inflationary pressures have increased in both Croatia and the United States according to recent economic data.

In Croatia, consumer prices rose by 4.2 percent in August compared to the previous year, according to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS). This increase breaks a three-month downward trend in inflation. Significant drivers include a 13.5 percent rise in transport costs and a 10.8 percent increase in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels. Additionally, prices for restaurants and accommodations rose by 6.1 percent.

In the United States, import prices saw an unexpected increase in August. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that import prices rose 0.7 percent from the previous month and were 7.0 percent higher than the previous year. This exceeded economist forecasts, which had predicted a monthly increase of only 0.4 percent. While fuel import prices fell by 0.1 percent, non-fuel import prices rose by 0.8 percent. Export prices also increased by 0.6 percent monthly and 8.6 percent annually.
