Influencer Aline Bardy Dutra convicted of racial injury in São Paulo

Social media influencer Aline Bardy Dutra, known as ‘Esquerdogata’, has been convicted of racial injury and contempt of authority following an incident in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The incident occurred on October 25, 2025, during a traffic stop where Dutra reportedly challenged police procedures and used racial slurs against officers.

Judge Carolina Moreira Gama sentenced Dutra to 1 year and 4 months of imprisonment for racial injury and 4 months of detention for contempt. However, the prison sentences were replaced with alternative measures, including community service and mandatory participation in alcoholism treatment, with proof of progress required every two months. Dutra was acquitted of the charge of resistance due to insufficient evidence.

Dutra stated she intends to appeal the decision, noting that while she respects judicial institutions, she believes her words were misinterpreted. She remains free pending the appeal.
