Baianinho de Mauá arrested for drunk driving after São Paulo crash

Josué Ramalho da Silva, known as Baianinho de Mauá, a professional snooker player and digital influencer, was arrested in flagrante for drunk driving in the Sacomã district of São Paulo. The incident occurred early Thursday morning when the 52-year-old collided his truck against utility poles on Avenida Presidente Tancredo Neves.

Police reported that a breathalyzer test confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system. Baianinho stated to Civil Police that he had been drinking because he was feeling “sad” due to his wife’s illness and claimed he fell asleep at the wheel. No other individuals were injured in the collision, which resulted in material damage and temporary traffic disruptions.

Baianinho, who has nearly 2 million social media followers, was taken to the 26th Police District. Following the registration of the occurrence as collision and drunk driving, a bail of R$ 4,000 was set, allowing him to remain free while awaiting legal proceedings. The influencer had recently run for federal deputy in 2026 under the União Brasil party.
