Sydney Towle dies at 26 after documenting rare cancer battle

Social media influencer Sydney Towle has died at the age of 26 following a nearly three-year battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. Her death was confirmed by her family through a video on TikTok.

Towle, who gained a following of over one million on TikTok and 200,000 on Instagram, used her platforms to document her medical journey with transparency. She shared details of her treatments, including chemotherapy and the physical changes caused by the disease, to raise awareness for rare cancers and promote patient self-advocacy.

Despite her diagnosis at age 23, Towle maintained a positive public presence, sharing videos of her daily life, dancing, and surfing. In May, she participated in the Miami Swim Week as part of a specialized runway for cancer patients and survivors, noting that "no matter what scars you have, you are beautiful."

Her family described her as an "unending ray of sunshine" and stated they intend to continue her mission of raising awareness for rare cancers.
